He graduated in 1994 where he obtained his FRACS. He also participated in the New Zealand Advanced Orthopaedic Training Programme, and completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine, in Melbourne, and two others in Pediatric Orthopaedics: one at Portland, Oregon, USA, and another one in Dallas, Texas. Finally, he completed a Foot and Ankle Fellowship, at Norwich, UK. He has participated of renown entities, such as the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association, the New Zealand Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the New Zealand Pediatric Orthopaedic Society, and the New Zealand Sports Medicine Society.
